How we treat each other
These standards apply to every post, comment, message, review and event in the Society.
Our values
- Welcome beginners. No question is too basic.
- Share knowledge generously and explain your terms.
- Respect different tastes, budgets and palates.
- Encourage responsible enjoyment.
- Keep conversations civil, even in disagreement.
- Protect member privacy.
- Disclose professional or commercial relationships.
Not allowed
- Harassment, hate speech, threats or discriminatory behavior.
- Illegal sales or exchanges of tobacco, alcohol or any regulated product.
- Promotion of tobacco or alcohol to minors, or any content targeting minors.
- Medical or health claims about tobacco or alcohol.
- Giveaways that violate applicable laws.
- Undisclosed sponsored content.
- Spam, automated registrations, scraping or bulk unsolicited messaging.
Reporting and moderation
Every post, comment, review, question, answer, group and member can be reported. Reports move through a moderation queue with statuses of open, under review, no action, warning issued, content removed, member suspended, member banned or escalated. Moderators act on the content, and repeated violations affect account standing.
Responsible enjoyment
Educational content in the Learning Room is not medical, legal or professional advice. We never present smoking or drinking as healthy, risk-free, or necessary to belong here. Never drink and drive. If alcohol or tobacco use is affecting your life, please reach out to a local health service or support line.
